singing instructor jobs at camp

are you?

Confident, Musical, Patient, Creative

bonus qualifications:

No qualifications? No problem. All you'll really need to do is create a short showcase video in your application to show you can sing - it may be the easiest job application you'll ever do. The best way to learn something is to teach others - so teaching campers to sing might help you refine and understand your own skill on a deeper level.

why should I teach singing at summer camp?

Singing teaching jobs abroad are incredibly fun - and what better place to do it than at camp in Canada?

As well as developing your own skills, you can pass your expertise onto campers of various backgrounds - some who are confident performers and others who feel most comfortable singing in the shower!

What’s more, you will be able to experiment with a wide variety of styles, from classical opera and musical theatre to pop and R&B, meaning there truly is a job out there at camp for every singer.

what does a singing instructor do at summer camp?

You will be teaching around 5 or 6 activity periods a day, working with small groups of campers who want your help - either to improve their voice or learn how to sing from scratch. It is therefore important you can adapt your lessons to suit campers of varying abilities.

Once your campers are more confident singers, you can help organise the music side of camp performances, such as musicals, giving them the opportunity to showcase their newfound talents to their fellow campers, and in some cases even their parents.

How much experience do I need?

If you’re not the best in the world at your activity, there’s no need to worry - you’ll be teaching kids who are just there to have fun, most will even be complete beginners. You’ll be fully trained before your campers arrive, and you’ll be supported by the other counsellors at your camp.

How many children should I expect to teach?

Campers come down to sessions in divisions (age groups). These can vary in skill level, but usually are made up of 10-30 campers. You’ll then be paired with an individual camper or a group, and don’t worry - you’ll be supported by your fellow specialists and counsellors.

Do I still get days off?

Of course! Everyone needs time to recharge their batteries after an exciting but hectic week at camp, as well as the opportunity to explore the local area and further afield. Most camps will give you a 24 hour block of free time every week, whilst some others provide 2-4 days off in a row every few weeks.
